Oswald, a racoon eyed Chihuahua Husky mix next to the words - You haven't really lived until you've done something for someone who can't ever repay you.K-9 Elite Rescue is seeking two people to fill two vacant positions on its Board of Directors immediately.

The Board will be meeting several times in the next couple of months, and members can join meetings either in person, or via Google Meet, for a total time commitment of 6-8 hours in the first two months, decreasing to regular quarterly board meetings thereafter, unless otherwise voted on by The Board.

While prior experience in an animal rescue would be fantastic, anyone with an interest in helping animals should consider joining.

Ideal candidates would include those with backgrounds in non-profits (especially animal welfare), management, community development, finance and law.

Board members will be reviewing financial records, setting policies, ensuring compliance requirements are met, reviewing and updating governance documents, providing oversight and perspective, and helping with organizational planning and strategy.

Please note that these are volunteer positions as the K-9 Elite Rescue board does not currently provide compensation to board members.

A little about K-9 Elite Rescue

K-9 Elite Rescue received its IRS 501(c)(3) not-for-profit determination in late November, 2023, and began formerly doing work in January of 2024. Since its inception, the rescue has helped to rescue and place more than 100 dogs in families. The rescue was the founded primarily by Linda Nezbeda, who had been training dogs and developed an interest in rescue. Both she and Dan Yedinak volunteered with other rescues for about two years prior, and have jointly helped to place a total of some 300 dogs in homes. Linda has recently stepped down from her leadership and board positions within the rescue, but continues to volunteer.

Why should you join K-9 Elite Rescue’s Board of Directors?

The mission of K-9 Elite Rescue is to help dogs that have been surrendered, abandoned by their owners, or even seized by authorities from abuse and hording situations, and often wind up in high kill shelters. We then help  prepare them to be adopted into families where they can live out the remainder of their lives in a loving, supportive environment. Throughout the United States, estimates are that between 600,000 and 700,000 dogs are euthanized in shelters every year. At K-9 Elite Rescue, we believe that A Dog Saved is a Family Made, and we see that with the giggles on the faces of children and adults alike as they meet their new furry family members.

Beyond rescue, we are also sometimes contacted after hours by community members who have found lost pets and we are able to scan their microchips and get in touch with their people to facilitate a successful reunion. Community members also reach out to us wanting to give back to their immediate community without having to travel. These volunteers are able to provide much needed one-on-one attention to these pups, giving us clues as to their personalities, helping them prepare for the life that awaits them, and they get to enjoy play time and walks with furry friends.

By joining the board of directors, you will be helping to support the local community, to rescue dogs, and to make a positive difference in the lives of many families. If this sounds like a mission that you would like to be a part of, we’d love to hear from you.
